ARCANE Industries' desire to offer a fairly broad range of chemical raw materials stemmed from an observation: the growing difficulty for a large number of companies to source these products within a reasonable timeframe and under acceptable conditions. Traditional distributors are faced with modern profitability constraints that lead to a degraded service:• Limited stock of materials and therefore significant lead times (sometimes incompatible with a company's operational requirements)• Staff reductions and the resulting decline in their availability and the service they provide• Inconsistent pricing policy, disconnected from market realities• Dependence on a few large producers who dominate the market to satisfy purely financial shareholders

The second observation is that France is facing a significant lag in B2B (business-to-business) e-commerce.ARCANE Industries is already very strongly present in online commerce, notably with a mixed B2C/B2B offering: in France with maison-etanche.com and abroad with arcane-industries.co.ukThese sites are, however, very oriented toward construction and home improvement, whereas arcane-direct is oriented toward industry, and in particular toward SMEs, mid-sized companies (ETI) and large corporations.
