Potassium carbonate, with the chemical formula K2CO3, is also known as salt of tartar, potassium carbonate and potash of the ancients. It is an ionic, basic and hygroscopic solid, soluble in water.
We offer it in 25 kg bag packaging, intended for professionals. It comes in powder form. This product does not have food grade status.
INDUSTRIAL USE
- Food industry: in food grade, it is used as an acidity regulator and stabilizer. It enables the carbonation of sparkling water and the creation of baking powder.
- Chemical industry: used in the manufacture of organic and inorganic products
- Pharmaceutical industry: used to cause effervescence in tablets to be dissolved in water
- Chemical fertilizer industry: manufacture of fertilizers for acidic soil, also used as a fungicide against powdery mildew in organic farming.

- Wood professionals use potassium carbonate to make water-based encaustic wax (saponified wax).
- Surface treatment: increases conductivity in silver cyanide baths.
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Recipe for making saponified wax for wooden furniture care:
Dissolve 25 g of potassium bicarbonate in 100 mL of water. Then dissolve 30 g of Marseille soap in 50 cL of water. Melt 20 g of beeswax in a bain-marie. Mix these 3 ingredients until a paste is obtained.
