Sodium hydrogen carbonate, sodium bicarbonate or baking soda, with the formula NaHCO3, is a weak base used in many industrial, food, agricultural and domestic applications. This product is presented in the form of a white powder composed of fine crystals, soluble in water. Its countless uses are highly appreciated by consumers, particularly in an ecological approach.
Our baking soda, of food grade, is suitable for human consumption.
This grade of sodium bicarbonate is a raw material verified by ECOCERT GREENLIFE and is compliant with the ECODETERGENT standard. This facilitates the preparation of your ECOCERT certification files.
You can purchase it in a 25 kg bag or on a full pallet of 1000 kg.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
- Food additive
- Cleaning agent, detergent manufacturing
- pH agent (particularly for swimming pools)
INDUSTRIAL USE
- Food industries: Food additive E500ii, used as an acidity regulator, leavening agent or anti-caking agent (Product authorized in the European Union and compliant with regulation (EC) No. 1333/2008 on food additives). Used in the manufacture of carbonated beverages. Used for the agricultural production of spirulina.
- Pharmaceutical industries: listed on the World Health Organization's list of essential medicines. Recognized bacteriostatic, anti-parasitic and fungicidal properties.
- Manufacturing of class B fire extinguishers
PROFESSIONAL USE
- Soda blasting stripping: removal of paint, graffiti, restoration of historic monuments, restoration after smoke damage, oil cleaning, maintenance of industrial production equipment, cleaning of aeronautical and railway equipment
- Use as a fungicide in organic farming and ecological herbicide. Just like household vinegar 14, sodium hydrogen carbonate is considered a basic substance (see recommendation: ITAB 2019 - Guide to the agricultural use of the basic substance sodium bicarbonate)
- Swimming pool pH regulation
OTHER COMMON USES
Used by consumers as an eco-friendly solution:
- Fabric softener for laundry: dissolved in water, it prevents calcium ions from precipitating as limescale. It helps reduce soap and detergent consumption. Do not use on wool or silk.
- In cooking, a leavening agent for baking or bread making, used to fix the green color of green vegetables during cooking.
- Anti-tartar agent for oral hygiene, applied directly to the toothbrush or as a mouthwash
- Organic household cleaner: helps with cleaning, removes limescale
- Eliminates bad odors from the refrigerator, shoes, trash cans, ashtrays, rugs and carpets
- To remove rust from certain metals (see our anti-rust products)
- Mixed with water: a drink to aid digestion and combat gastric acidity
- Promotes the removal of pesticides from fruits and vegetables

To fix the color of green vegetables during cooking: add a pinch of bicarbonate to the water.
To leaven pastry dough: add a pinch to the batter
Caution, baking soda should not be confused with soda crystals, sodium percarbonate, soda lye, or caustic soda.
Just like vinegar, sodium hydrogen carbonate is considered a basic substance (see recommendation: ITAB 2019 - Guide to the agricultural use of the basic substance sodium bicarbonate).
