Denatured ethanol is an ethyl alcohol to which one or more products have been added, such as methyl ethyl ketone or isopropyl alcohol, to make it unfit for consumption. Denaturation preserves the properties of the alcohol. In Europe, alcohol is subject to a tax: the excise duty. Since denatured alcohol is undrinkable, the excise duty does not apply.
Declaration of profession
Under the general tax code and within the framework of excise duty exemptions applicable to alcohol and alcoholic beverages, for a purchase exceeding 10L, the customer must provide us with a declaration of profession (UT declaration) which can be easily obtained from customs on the website:
Ethyl alcohol (ethanol) can be obtained by natural fermentation of plant materials, or by synthesis from petrochemical products.
This grade of ethyl alcohol has undergone complete denaturation by euro-denaturant, a common process applicable to member states, as defined in European regulation 1867/2016 of October 20, 2016, with per hectoliter of absolute ethanol: 1 liter IPA (tracer), 1 liter MEK (odor agent), 1 gram of denatonium benzoate (bittering agent).
This product comes in the form of a colorless liquid at a concentration of 96%. We offer it in various packaging: a carton of 4 x 5-liter cans, a 20-liter can, a 200-liter drum, and a 975-liter IBC.
