Isopropyl alcohol (CAS 67-63-0) or isopropanol, propan-2-ol, IPA (for IsoPropyl Alcohol) is a secondary alcohol with the chemical formula CH3CH(OH)-CH3. It is obtained by reducing acetone with sodium tetrahydroborate. It is a raw material widely used for various applications.
It appears as a colorless liquid with a faint ether odor.

Photography enthusiasts use it to clean their camera lens.
Diluted in a proportion of 70% isopropyl alcohol to 30% water, it is then called rubbing alcohol. Households use it for cleaning surfaces.
USAGE RECOMMENDATIONS
In the case of plastics or materials sensitive to pure solvents such as isopropanol, it may be preferable to use an aqueous solution of 70% by volume isopropyl alcohol.
