Acetic acid 14°
Acetic acid is the main component of white vinegar, alcohol vinegar or crystal vinegar. It is also found under the name glacial acetic acid or ethanoic acid. It belongs to the carboxylic acid family. It is produced synthetically by carbonylation of methanol with carbon monoxide (CH3OH + CO → CH3COOH). It is found in blood and sweat in humans, and in sap in plants.
It is available in 20-liter cans, 200-liter drums, and 1000-liter IBCs.

INDUSTRIAL USE
Acetic acid, at varying concentrations, is used in various industrial applications:
- Natural latex coagulant,
- Textile industry: mordanting during staining of histological sections (e.g.: carmine-green staining) and in tanneries for pre-treatment of hides
- Component of cleaning agents for semiconductor manufacturing
- Intermediate in the manufacture of chemical products,
- Solvent: miscible with water and various organic solvents such as ethanol, diethyl ether, glycerol but insoluble in carbon disulfide, it is also a good solvent for gums, resins, phosphorus, sulfur and halogenated acids;
- Manufacture of plastics such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or cellulose acetate, useful for production of vinyl acetate (paints, adhesives) and organic solvents
- Used in hydrolysis, condensation, gelation processes for catalyst manufacturing
