PM or methoxy propylene glycol is a colorless, clear and hygroscopic solvent. It is moderately soluble and miscible with water.
It is used for coatings and printing inks and has a slight alcohol odor and good solvency for many raw materials used in coatings.
It improves the applicability, fluidity and gloss of air-drying paints.
It is the fastest drying solvent in the propylene glycol family (particularly compared to DPM dipropylene glycol ether solvent, PNB and DPNB).
Its miscibility with water and many common organic solvents allows applications in the coatings industry for the production of cellulose nitrate-based varnishes, for printing inks, particularly cellulose nitrate flexographic inks.
