Tannic Acid / Tannin 25kg
Product Summary
Tannic acid is a mixture of esters of glucose with gallic acid and 3-galloylgallic acid derived from various plant extracts rich in this compound, such as gall nuts (galls) and tara seeds (Caesalpinia spinosa). The chemical formula of tannic acid is C76H52O46.
Tannins have been known since Antiquity, when they were used for the tanning of hides.
In its natural state, tannin and tannic acid are found in many plants, for example in vines (grape seeds, grape skins, leaves) and oak (bark, wood, leaves). It is this substance that gives red wine, tea or coffee their astringent character.
We offer tannic acid in powder form, in 25 kg bags, intended for professionals. The technical grade is the one we offer by default; food grade is available on request.
