Propylene Carbonate (PC) is an aprotic polar organic solvent derived from the catalyzed reaction between carbon dioxide (CO2) and propylene oxide. This manufacturing process is considered "green" as it consumes CO2 and 100% of the atoms from the reactants are found in the finished product ("atom economy"). This cyclic carbonate ester is chiral but used only in racemic form, notably as a solvent and diluent. Heavier than its ethylene counterpart, ethylene carbonate (CAS 96-49-1), it has a higher boiling point and flash point, low toxicity, and a mild odor. It is miscible with water, just like DPM, MPG, DMSO but is not hygroscopic and is classified as non-VOC (volatile organic compound).

Propylene Carbonate is stable under most conditions and is non-corrosive. It is particularly suitable for applications and processes requiring high purity, such as electronics or certain recycling of spent materials. It is an excellent solvent for many organic and inorganic materials.

We offer this product intended for professionals, in 20-liter cans, 200-liter drums, and 1000-liter IBCs.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

Solvent, cleaning diluent, stripper.
