Product Summary
DMSO is a non-classified polar aprotic solvent, safe for humans and the environment, with the chemical formula CH3SOCH3. It is miscible with water and certain organic solvents (alcohols, ketones, etc.).
It is a by-product of the paper industry: it is obtained during the manufacture of paper pulp.
Dimethyl sulfoxide appears as a colorless liquid with a garlic-like odor.
The advantages of DMSO:
• Powerful solvent
• High flash point and boiling point
• Excellent toxicology and ecotoxicological profile
• Recyclable, biodegradable
• Low odor
• Miscible with most co-solvents
This product is industrial grade: do not use it for pharmaceutical purposes.
We offer it for sale exclusively to professionals, in two packaging sizes: 22 kg container and 225 kg drum.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
Polar aprotic solvent, used for numerous applications.
INDUSTRIAL USE
- Paint industry: its excellent polymer solubilization power and low toxicity make it a highly suitable solvent for formulating polymer coatings such as polyethersulfones, polyurethanes, etc.
- Detergent and maintenance product industry: highly effective, DMSO helps solubilize most organic compounds without affecting substrates.
In pharmaceutical grade, this product also has these uses:
- Pharmaceutical industry: used for manufacturing certain medications, particularly for treating interstitial cystitis. Also used as a cryopreservative for freezing cells, organs, or gametes before transplantation. In veterinary medicine, it is used to treat sprains and inflammatory muscle problems in animals.
- Chemical and agrochemical industry: it is used in the synthesis of certain medications and in agrochemistry.
USAGE RECOMMENDATIONS
Dimethyl sulfoxide has the property of diffusing throughout the body after ingestion or skin contact. It transports other molecules, some of which are harmful. Use gloves to protect your skin from contact with DMSO and preserve your health.
