DBA or DIBUTYL ADIPATE is a virtually odorless synthetic solvent manufactured from adipic acid and butanol.
In perfumery, this dibasic ester is an excellent solvent for aromatic raw materials (essential oils, etc.) and its physicochemical characteristics make it a good solvent for the creation of alcohol-free fragrances, ambient fragrances. It can substitute isopropyl myristate.
It is also known in cosmetics as a skin conditioning agent, film-forming agent, emollient, solvent, or in coating manufacture as a plasticizer for vinyl resins, cellulose resins, PVC and synthetic rubber, and nitrocellulose coatings.
