A coalescing oil separator for a rotary parts washer separates and removes oils from the wash bath to limit their buildup in the tank.

Coalescence promotes the combining of fine oil droplets into larger drops, making it easier to separate them from the washing solution and recover them.

The system is compatible with the following models:

  • ROTARY WASHER 730
  • ROTARY WASHER 870
  • ROTARY WASHER 1130
  • ROTARY WASHER 1460
  • ROTARY WASHER 1800

How it works

When mechanical or industrial parts are washed, oils and other greasy substances can enter the wash bath. Some of these oils may be dispersed in the liquid as fine droplets.

The coalescing oil separator uses an element that encourages these droplets to come together and combine.

During operation:

  1. The oil-laden liquid is directed to the coalescing system.
  2. Fine oil droplets come into contact with the coalescing medium.
  3. They gradually combine to form larger drops.
  4. The difference in density then causes the oil to rise to the surface.
  5. The separated oil can then be recovered and removed from the circuit.
  6. The liquid, with the oil removed, can continue to be used in the washing circuit.

Simplified diagram

Oil-laden wash bath → coalescing medium → droplets combine → oil separation → recovery

This system primarily helps reduce the amount of unwanted oil in the wash bath and makes it easier to recover. It thus helps maintain the quality of the liquid used by the rotary parts washer for longer.

Unlike a disc oil skimmer, which acts primarily on free oil at the surface, coalescence also helps separate fine oil droplets dispersed in the liquid.

Its effectiveness depends in particular on the type of oil, droplet size, flow rate, and characteristics of the wash bath. Highly emulsified oils can be more difficult to separate by coalescence.
