Butyl Acetate / Butyl Ethanoate - CAS No. 123-86-4

Butyl acetate, N-butyl or butyl ethanoate is a solvent from the ester family with the formula C₆H₁₂O₂. It appears as a colorless liquid with a characteristic banana odor.
An effective solvent, butyl acetate is used as a film-forming agent for paints, lacquers and coatings. It is also found as a food additive.

INDUSTRIAL USE

• Paint industry: solvent for coatings formulated on different bases: cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose, polyesters, epoxy resins, alkyd resins, vinyl copolymers and acrylic resins.
• Degreasers and cleaners industry
• Artificial leather industry
• Photographic industry: film manufacturing

Under a different grade than the one we offer (contact us for these uses):

• Pharmaceutical industry: extraction agent
• Cosmetics industry: solvent used in nail polish formulations. Also used as a masking agent to reduce the base odor of the product. Used in the composition of certain perfumes and eau de toilette.
• Tobacco industry: additive
• Food industry: used in the production of confectionery, ice cream, cheeses

USAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Dilute to a maximum of 0.8% in perfumes.

Consult the safety data sheet and use appropriate personal protective equipment. Rinse immediately with water in case of skin contact.
