ANHYDROUS CITRIC ACID
Citric acid, found in abundance in lemons, is an organic acid. It exists in the form of anhydrous crystals or monohydrate powder.
Crystallization of the anhydrous form occurs in hot water, while that of the monohydrate form occurs in cold water. We offer citric acid in 25 kg packaging for professional use.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
Citric acid is a versatile, soluble chemical primarily used by professionals as a flavor enhancer and pH regulator. Individuals use it to make "homemade" household products.
INDUSTRIAL USE
- Safe, low-toxicity plasticizers for plastics
- Setting retarder for cement (prompt)
- In the food industry: food additive (E330), acidulant (sodas, sour candies), leavening agent in flavor compositions, pH regulator
- In the pharmaceutical industry: preservation of blood products (citrate binds to calcium in the blood)
- In the cosmetics industry: pH balancing during product manufacturing, cosmetic raw material
PROFESSIONAL USE
- In winemaking: iron complexing agent in white and rosé wines to delay ferric casse and improve wine quality
- In analog photography: used as a stop bath
- In automotive mechanics: cooling system cleaner
OTHER COMMON USES
- Rust stain reduction
- Descaling product for domestic surfaces (see the industrial descaler page for professional use)
- Fabric softener
- Artisanal salt dough
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
For example, to make a "homemade" fabric softener, dilute 25% citric acid in 75% water.
To prevent ferric casse during winemaking, observe the maximum dosage limit in accordance with European regulations. Dissolve a maximum of 1 gram of citric acid per liter.
